Safety

You will find dry ice very useful and safe as long as you know how to use and store it properly.

Important Dry Ice & Safety Storage Information

Dry ice is extremely cold (-109 degrees). Avoid contact with skin. It can cause frostbite.

Use dry ice in an area with adequate ventilation. Dry ice gives off CO2. If you experience difficult breathing or headaches, IMMEDIATELY open doors to provide adequate ventilation.

Store dry ice in an insulated container, but not in an airtight container. Dry ice is combustible when stored in a sealed container and may explode.

Children should be supervised by an adult when using dry ice.

Misuse of Dry Ice

Intentional misuse of dry ice may be harmful or fatal.

DO NOT seal dry ice in a latched cooler.

DO NOT keep in an air-tight container or anything that will not allow for expansion of the CO2 gas.

DO NOT touch without insulated gloves. Don’t allow ice to touch your skin, mouth, eyes, or clothing.

DO NOT eat or swallow dry ice. Could cause death or serious injury.

DO NOT enter poorly ventilated areas where dry ice is used or stored. Avoid breathing vapors.

DO NOT allow children to handle dry ice. Children should be supervised when around dry ice.
